I'll be in Arkansas for a couple weeks and will have some free time on the 23rd and 24th of July. I will be stuck in Little Rock without a car but I would really like to do some climbing and experience some new areas. It doesn't look like there is much in Arkansas for climbing compared to Utah but if anyone is willing I'd like to go check it out. I'm up for sport climbing or bouldering, I've never done any trad climbing before, but if someone wants to take me and start teaching me the basics I'm good with just belaying or whatever. Oh and of course for taking me and showing me around I'll buy the beer. I will need to be back Sunday evening though. Thanks in advance!

Good luck buying the beer in AR. That place is half dry counties. AR has the best single pitch sport and trad climbing of my life. I use to live 3hrs from the climbing there) Beats RRG Kentucky in my book. Much lower crowds in my opinion. (except HCR, which is still worth it if you want to do 20 routes before noon) As far as picking up partners RC.com may be the best. There was also a shop in Springfield MO which had forum on their website. We never really did much on the forums as far as finding partners though. We were a few years behind the rest of the US... Awesome diner in Jasper AR. If ya end up there you have to get the cheese volcano burger.

Sounds right, connected to the pizza shop in Jasper, AR. This is the classic amazing small town cafe that you will never find outside of the midwest/south. Reminds me of home. I want to go back there, Salt Lake City sucks in comparison.

Don't give up hope yet, I'm still trying to decide if I can go climbing on Sunday. The heat index is going to be 110 or so and beer has to be really cold to make that worth it. We'll see.

Go to HCR and climb in the morning when the heat is tolerable and then head to Kyles Landing about 4 miles away and swim in the river and do some deep water soloing. I was there when the weather was in the upper 90s and this worked out just fine. But upper 90s is not 110. Good luck
