Gold

Considered the area classic at Moolack, and for good reason! This is one heck of a climb. You'll use everything from fingers to offwidth, so come prepared to break out the whole bag of tricks!

Start with an easy ledge system to gain the crack by the madrone. From here, the climb steepens as you work your way up the hand and finger crack. A distinctive crux comes at a bulge with a flaring crack that splits the perfectly clean gold face. The climb remains unrelenting as it splits the beautiful golden rock. A nice wide section awaits higher up on the climb. After the business is over, a loose but easy scramble through the manzanita takes you to the top.

It is possible to set up a top rope for Gold, but be sure you've found the correct tree anchor. Directionals might be useful given the overhung nature of much of the climb, and a 70m is necessary to reach the bottom. It's only possible to TR with a top belay given the impressive height of the cliff.

The Paul Waters and Jennifer Mower guide lists the pro as #00 - 3.5", but I imagine larger gear might be useful for the wide sections. Tree anchor at the top.
