Tyler,

It's Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskills. The Catskills are basically Utah with trees and shitty snow. An eroded plateau with lots of ravines. No true slot canyons or absolutely necessary technical canyons, but definitely some fun practice. And a few are semi legit. Jan 12, 2017

Felix, in this situation, vertical overhanging he's attached to my belay loop. He's also wearing a doubkeback. If it was slabby, you could attach him to the belay device which would be extended. This would allow you to keep him either on your lap via a chest harness (pulled away from the wall).

Dogs do fine in a free hang, but naturally they want to grab the wall on slabs. So keeping them away from the wall is the best option on anything less than vertical terrain. Just be sure that the terrain doesn't change. It can get tricky going from slab to vertical with the dog above you. Jan 12, 2017
