was talking to a very strong non BD affiliated climber whose actually climbed on these and he’s saying they’re better than nomics and offering some real innovation to set them apart from existing tools. |

Next year, I think. |

OK BG, I'll bite....what are those tools??? They don't look quite like the BD ones we've been seeing pictures of or am I missing something? |

The guy who posted that is a BD sponsored climber and tagged BD. It’s hard to see in the picture but you can see a smidge of green on the head of the right tool which is what I’ve seen on will gadds videos. They also look like they have the same spacers as the current BD fuel uses. |

I looked more closely and I do beleive you're right. At first glance I thought they were carbon, but when I zoomed in I changed my mind. They look interesting. Excited to try. |

Do my eyes deceive me, or is the bottom (handle) pick is broken off on the tool on the right side of the pic? If so, let's hope that's intentional for prototype trials, and not something we can expect in field use. Some folks like a fully-rated handle clipping point (I know, that's a whole other debate...); let's just hope it lives up to whatever rating it's given. |

I'm going to guess (and hope) that the spike is removable, and that is fits into a slot in the handle. Folks like me who don't like a spike can take it off, while folks who do like a spike can use it. My question then becomes, without the spike, is there a way to attach a soft loop for a tether? One could always tie/swe it through the holes in then handle and tape if flat against the grip, but that's imperfect. The hole at the back/bottom of X-dreams was nice for this. The current generation of Nomics don't have a good solution. See this thread: https://www.mountainproject.com/forum/topic/125221005/bd-spinner-leash-mod#ForumMessage-125236529 No need to get into endless debates about spikes or tethers. To each his/her/their own. |

Some more video of the tools |

I wonder if will is still a big fan of arcteryx-I get being a dead bird fan 15 years ago, but seems there are better options today |
|

He’s still sponsored by them, so whether he’s a fan or not, he’s going to be rocking their gear. |

bearded samwrote: Not exactly the question you asked, but I don't think anyone is the best, head-to-toe. One makes the best boots, another makes the best soft shell, and a third makes the best hard shell pants, etc. That's why I've turned down numerous sponsorship proposals from all the big manufacturers... so I can preserve my freedom to mix and match the best pieces. |

It seems that Kevin ndlau is rocking a version with a more aggressive handle on all of his hard sends in Italy over the past little bit. I wonder if it’s two different products like the nomic/ergonomic, or if the innovation people are alluding to is one tool with different offset handles that can be replaced. Like a better implementation of the cassin ice/dry pivot point. |

The new tools are fantastic...great pick, weight and attachment options with a really balanced feel. The aggressive shape & hardened/tempered steel of the drytooling pick is especially impressive. |
