When I first moved here I made this spreadsheet to navigate The Front's membership policies in conjunction with outdoor climbing viability. Thought I would share.
Thought it would be fun to add to what you and Andrew Gram are saying.
Before I moved from Seattle to SLC I heard some advice about burnout when climbers move from Seattle to Boulder, that I think it applies to SLC too.
The weather here is so good and the mtns are so close that you feel almost guilty when you don't seize the day. You feel like a golden retriver in a tennis ball factory and it can kind of wear you out in a weird way. At this very moment It's 68deg and sunny, I can look out the window and see snow on mt Olympus, yet here I am at my laptop. I'm still happy to live here though.
I think it's good psychlgically to acknowledgement that even if your environment makes opportunity to climb (or ski or paraglide or whatever) more abundant. Life priorities will still govern what you do.
