I have the opposite problem - these heels feel so baggy to me! I can't get these tight enough - I'll probably go back to wearing ankle protectors for any real leading in these.

Otherwise, I love the boot. Hikes like an approach shoe - super flexible ankles with tons of mobility in any direction - and climbs like a full shank boot. Just wish the heels were more narrow.

Have to agree with Thomas on this one.  There are no lacelocks which means I have to start at the toes and keep tension the whole time lacing and they still feel like they loosen up on me.

Warm and comfortable I just get heel lift on steep ice. I've got low volume heels and have worn the aforementioned neoprene heal guards are well.  Was hoping I wouldn't need them with these.

If anyone has figured out a lacing trick let me know!

Used a heat gun to warm up the heel, being careful not to melt the rubber off. A welding clamp with a 3inch pvc endcap on one end, and a rounded 1 in cap on the other, clamped on the area of pressure. The plastic seems to be thin enough, you could probably use a rounded dowel in place of the clamp.

Very cool, I don’t have a welding clamp but probably have a different clamp with a long reach

Cheers

I am having the same issue! The boot fits great except the heel slip. As far as lacing goes, unlace down to where your ankle flexs and the laces split. Then add 2 twists and relace, this acts as a sudo lace lock. I also tried to wrap the lace around to the back to tie, seems to help a little bit. But the biggest help is an insole and thick socks.

Thanks Adam I will try that.

I also had the heel slip issue with mine until I used the Superfeet green insoles, and wore 2 pairs of wool socks. Now they’re super comfy and secure.

Hey, I know this thread has been quiet for a while but I have a question on the footbed/insole topic. Has anyone tried these with no insole?

I feel like I almost like the feel of immediate contact to the sole more this way. Might not be worth the sacrifice if you have a long approach though. Thoughts?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
