Setting up C4's like the DMM's?

A friend of mine had 24" runners sewn directly to his C4's back when Forest was still in business here in Durango. He just turns them into alpine draws by feeding them back through the thumb loop, but he only needs one carabiner. For him, they're perfect, he mostly climbs meandering trad and alpine routes. Although it was pretty overkill when we climbed in the Creek a couple weeks ago.

His came out to 8" when alpine draw'd, but my thought is that you could use 15 or 16 inch slings and get a nice short compacted draw, still with the option of extension.

I kind of like Russ's cam. You could use it to build anchors if you don't place it on the way up.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
