I've had this pair of mad rocks for about six months. The other day I was gym climbing and I managed to put two pretty good size holes in the rubber on the toe box. Can i get these resoled or do I need to purchase a new pair of shoes?

If they are not through the leather yet then yes.

then start really paying attention to your foot work because that shouldn't happen so fast.

Nonsense Jake. Completely depends on how much you've been climbing. Rock and Resole in Boulder. They can do almost anything. I've blown complete holes through my shoes and they've handed me back a virtually new pair of shoes.

It's gonna need a rand repair. In the future, try to send them out right before the edge wears through the sole, but it might not be worth it with a pair of cheaper shoes.

Resoling before the soles go makes the shoe last for more resoles and be cheaper in the long run. I have a pair of mythos that lasted 5 resoles this way.

As far as this being a technique issue, it depends where the holes are. On the top of the shoe means you're toe dragging. If it just wore through the sole and made a hole, it just means you need to resole sooner.

In terms of durability, six months could be very soon or very long deoending on how much you climb. I'm on a 3-4 months of life basis dring the climbing season. about 6 when its only indoor climbing.

Mad rocks aren't known for thier durabilit, either.

I climb a lot. During the summer I was bouldering 3-4 times a week, and sport climbing once a week. Currently I gym climb at least three times a week. So needless to say, I climb a fair amount

Hey, don't knock the 'Mads. They do OK, much better than the introductory cheap shoes often do, and have pretty good rubber friction quality. I'm guessing this gym has some pretty rough textured walls. That can take some punishment on your shoes, especially if you are working the same routes, moves, over and over. Our gym has 4 different levels of texture on the walls, and it's obvious which type does in the shoes faster. Growing up on Wisconsin quartzite that had NO friction, I was spoiled with shoes lasting many many years with little wear.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
