Chapel Pond Slab descent washout

It appears as though the fixed line descent gully for chapel pond slab has been washed out by recent rain and is unstable/unusable for descent at the moment.  I am going to try to get up there over the next couple of days to grab some photos and provide an idea of any updated information for the descent.  Please provide any updates/observations here for potential visitors to the area.

Thanks

I wonder if it's time for a dedicated rappel line down Chapel Pond Slab ..... or would that ruffle too many feathers on the flock of anti-bolting people ?

It would probably be the smart thing to do, but it will definitely ruffle feathers. You probably want to reach out to the Adirondack climbing coalition, and see if you can get them on your side on that.

It's been suggested. And replied to: the ice would take it out.

Good photos currently in the Adirondack Rock Climbing FB group.

The area affected by the slide is now much more stable than it was. There is still some loose stuff, so extra caution is advised here. But, for the most part, it feels secure.

The lower fixed line is located in the same location. The rappel is from the same tree that the lower fixed line is attached to. However, fall line for the rappel is skiers left of the lower fixed line. The ‘new’ rappel puts you ~15ft downhill of where the lower fixed line reaches the ground.

The rest of the North Slab descent remains unchanged.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
