Mike sold mountaineering books for many years via mail order and in-person retail, first in Kittredge, then in Evergreen, and after that, via his website. He was a good friend of mine for the last 30 years or so and I will miss his knowledge, wit, and friendship. Very sorry to hear this, even though I had been aware that he was seriously ill. I did a fair amount of business with him over the years---he filled an important niche for us climbing bibliophiles. I always enjoyed chatting with him when we met in person. RIP. |

Always enjoyed talking to him when ordering books. One time when i called after receiving his catalogue in the mail .he excitingly told me that Nick Clinch had just bought the item I wanted to buy . |

Sorry to hear. He was a great guy. Bought lotsa books via mail order over the years and getting his catalog was always a “good day!” I used to make a stop in Evergreen any time I flew out to Denver to see my buddy in Glenwood Springs. If I remember correctly he had two cats - Shipton and Tillman! Almost all the mountaineering books in my collection are from him. |

This makes me sad. I always stopped by his retail store when near by. loved chatting with him. Ive got a lot of books on climbing. He was so intrigued he drove to my house to check out my collection. we hung out all afternoon talking about books. He felt the collection was unique. Made an offer to buy them. no way I could part with them. I admired him. BTW I believe Daniel Kay acquired his collection ( has a web site ) and is selling books and posters at good prices RIP good sir |
