logging in, app forum

I've never had so much trouble logging into a website or app as I have had with mtnproject since OnX has taken over, except maybe a clunky government site. I kinda liked the OnX mapping software, but again with the login issues, there's no way I'd ever renew a subscription. Luckily for mapping, I have much better options (Caltopo).

I also used to hop on the app to check forum posts regarding basic conditions, partners, local stuff, but now that that feature is gone, I find the app only useful for taking trips, and even then it's nice to see if any local issues are happening.

I really get overwhelmed trying to figure out local facebook groups (or wherever people look these days). I basically can't keep track of them, and really only used this site/app. I'm sure I'm not in the age demographic that is savy on the socials to be able to navigate different online groups. But for me y'all took a massive step backwards. I'm disheartened as the route info data and feedback is still invaluable, but at least for me, my use has plummeted. This coupled with having a really hard time loging in with my username and password not being stored, well, sucks.

However, I'm sure this is hard underappreciated work for those involved, don't take this feedback as being too harsh.

First, thanks for the feedback. Harsh or not, we're grateful that climbers care enough to share their experience. We've got a lot of work in progress to address the pain points you brought up.

The login issue has existed for too long and it's time to get it up to speed and we were really frustrated when Apple rejected our latest iOS app build citing the Forum button. Nothing had changed but they decided it didn't meet their criteria for approval. Said in other threads, we made the call to pull the button so that we could get a number of bug fixes and improvements out and then figure out next steps, which is where we're at now.

(Also just sent you a message because I think your login issues are related to having multiple MP accounts.)

Hey Zander I also can't login on the app but mobile website is fine. I'd love a hand.

Hey Cody, I’m out until Monday but happy to assist then.

I am (again) completely unable to log in. First there are all the recent buggy updates so after many attempts at getting areas to download and show on the map without success, I reinstalled the app.

Now the login bug is happening where it tells me over and over I need to log in with email but doesn't give a password box.

Quite disappointed this hasn't been solved almost a year later :(

@Cody - it looks like you have two MP accounts, which is likely the source of the issue. I'll DM you next steps (e.g. merge contents into whichever account you want to keep, delete the empty duplicate, ensure remaining account is connected to onX).

Hey Daniel, sorry you're seeing the login issue again. Similar to Cody, I'm seeing multiple onX accounts for you, so I'm thinking the wrong one got hooked up to your MP account. I'll DM you next steps to get it sorted out.

Still can't log in. It's been a month.

There's also a bug that will allow you to bypass the MP login. I tried to report it in a forum post but my post and account were both deleted/banned, and the mods never reached out to me. I've emailed Zander directly now, so hopefully he gets in touch soon. I'm worried he thinks it's not a sincere report or worthwhile concern.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
