Another chopped tyrol in the St. Vrain

Hi. If you are the one who has chopped the tyrol, again, to the Arch of Titus and the Coliseum, will you please contact me so I can better understand what is going on? From my understanding this is not violating any BLM guidelines. 

Its not just about the gear going missing, but the time and energy those of us put into fixed hardware like this to make the climbing areas safer, accessible, and enjoyable for all.

So please, reach out privately and we can find a solution for all. 

I was up there 2 weeks ago and the tryol was gone, but the hardware was still there. Did someone really chop the hardware? That's nutter behavior if so.

The last time they smashed in the bolts. Sounds like this time they just cut the rope. I used fixed hardware as a catch-all for this post, and I am honestly just worn out with it all at this point. Too much ego for such a small, local area. So I ask again, whoever did it, just email me so we can figure out a solution that lets me go back to enjoying my local wall vs. dealing with this dumb drama.

A climber I know in the area had someone chop a tyrol as they were leaving right in front of him as he watched. I thought it was a weird one off, but now I keep seeing this seems to be a "thing". As long as local rules are being followed, IMO this is just top tier obnoxious and selfish behavior.

Yeah I wonder what the thought process is. Are the folks chopping the tyrol against climbing in the St. Vrain for some reason? I'd love to understand as well.

I think it's a combination of people taking false ownership of areas and petty egos. Allegedly this time around the cutting happened after 2 climbers had a verbal altercation at the crag due to a dog barking. A gentleman only known as "Mark" then left and cut the tyrol as he left. But, that's all I have to go on. Honestly I will probably not put any more effort into it if that's how people are going to be. So, for now at least, if you want to climb at these two areas bring your waders and some trekking poles as the current does get swift in the summer.

Yeah, I just saw the post on the Coliseum page, sounds like a case of someone with a short temper deciding that nobody can climb to "punish" the other climber.

People suck

I think we are all in agreement here then, sucks to suck. Lets try and enjoy this place while we can and treat is kindly. And if anyone makes contact with the party in question - do your best to understand their reasoning behind it and try to come to a common ground. No need for more drama...or chopped gear.

We were at the The Coliseum on May 12th and found that wading approx 50 yards East of the tyrol was about calf deep. Probably a bit higher now with the recent rains. Bring your sandals!
