Horse Chute starts by doing the first 5 pitches of Dihedral Wall.  Then you go left at the roof on p6 instead of right.

You should have no problem finding the start of Dihedral Wall.  It is the huge left facing corner system on the SW Face of El Cap which reaches the ground.

The "Great Slab" is the left side of this corner system.

The trail levels off and heads left at this point.

Be aware of the raptor closures that cover this route now through July 15th

https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/climbingclosures.htm

  • El Capitan, SW Face – All routes between and including “Octopussy” to “Cosmos” are closed.

Interesting, does this happen every year at this time? (March to July)

Yup. Generally a naturalist on staff will keep tabs of the nesting situation and open parts of the closure earlier than the July default depending upon where they set up their nests, successful nesting vs failed nests, etc, but I’d be surprised if there’s appropriate staffing under this current administration for something like that this year.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
