Does anyone in portland climb outdoors?

Looking for gym partners too but mostly looking for folks to get outdoors with. I know the weather isn't the best but let's go to smith then! I've been climbing over 10 years, pride myself on my belly skills and generally like to goof around and tell jokes. I do take climbing seriously though and love to project and push grades. Im getting back into shape after a 1.5 year hiatus, but ill happily belay you on whatever. |

Hey Lisa, I just moved to the area and I'm looking to find some new climbing partners (specifically for climbing at smith). I'm mostly a sport climber but that's only because I don't have my own rack, very interested in trad as well! Let me know what kind of climbing your into :) |

What is that horrible climbing spot covered in broken glass bottles next to the highway? In my very brief stint in Portland- we finally tried to climb outside and ended up rescuing a kid on a first date. He launched off a cliff and sliced his arm open pretty good. We tied a tourniquet from my shirt and got him up the hill. It was really difficult, I remember, because we made the poor decision to let a local named Ernesto launch us into space through a blunt immediately before the event. Anyway- maybe avoid this area, stay sober, know a little first aid, and definitely have top notch belly skills. |

I'd be down to climb this weekend at smith if you're interested! The weather looks lovely |

Hi Lisa, I sent you a dm! Pretty happy to climb outside in pdx area (or smith) anytime that the rock is mostly dry |

Come back by sometime this summer when it's a primo urban crag - Wall of Shadows stays in the shade all afternoon and can have a 20 degree difference from ambient temp. In my five years climbing there, haven't had a single issue, but there's lots of lore and legends! The LCO is working with some other groups as part of Friends of Rocky Butte ( friendsofrockybutte.org/) to take it over and turn this place around. Hopefully ODOT will help make the dream a reality! There will be a clean-up in early summer, more details to come. |

J Pwrote: Kinda rude to call it horrible when we didn’t even get to climb before this event happened. Would love to come back sober and climb there again. I wouldn’t mind if some of my favorite crags had broken glass, if it scared off the crowds ;) |
