Anyone had eyes on LV canyon lately?

From a friend who went last weekend 1/17/26.  Looks thin.

Thanks J den! We climbed in the canyon on Jan 23-25, 2026. Ice was a bit thin, but both Main Wall and Chouinards were in decent shape. Surprisingly, Main Wall was looking better than Chouinards. For anyone going up there, our team did a lot of work making nice paths at the bottom of the climbs on both Main & Chouinards. Conditions were good for growing ice. Quite chilly during the day on the 24th & 25th. Got get on it!

Anyone has been to Lee Vining since that last report, especially after the storm? What are the conditions? My ice climbing crave is getting strong...

Was out there today. The ice is quite bad unfortunately. Main wall seems pretty much toast and Chouinard’s is borderline even with an early start…

Hey TB, got any pics of Main Wall? Chouinard looks pretty baked.

New to area, anyone know if there are other places to find conditions?

My friend Max D. & I climbed the Main Wall Sunday afternoon. The ice was plenty thick enough to place screws. We opted to walk off though because when we were on the last section, a huge piece of the falls to the right crashed off & exploded. It is still climbable but won't last much longer & be careful. Here is a pic of us on the route from Sunday afternoon taken by my friend Kyle.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
