Anyone know what the Emeralds is like now? Is the season over or has it dried up since recent storms?

Should be fine if a bit cold in the shade. Was at the Eyrie last weekend, which was totally dry but also gets a lot of sun. Based on the parking, seemed like there were a fair number of parties at the main areas.

Anyone know what the Emeralds look like after the Christmas storm? Thinking of heading up tomorrow but don’t need to slog through snow if it’s significant coverage out there.

Snow down to 6000 feet and cold. I was in the Bishop area and drove over 88 so marginal is a prediction, not first hand inspection. More expected this week.

I'd imagine that the I-80 webcam at Blue Canyon would give some idea of snow conditions at the Emeralds. Close by and very similar elevation.

Snowy as all hell when we drove through on Saturday. Full winter Wonderland.

Anyone been up to the Emeralds this week? Planning on hitting the upper Gorge tomorrow. Thinking the walls should be clear but not sure.

Benches were pretty in the other day! A little bit of seeping but lots of dry rock to be found!

Anyone been to the Emeralds since the last big snows? Thinking of going there or Mayhem Cove but figured South lake probably got more snow.

Dude, look at the Blue Canyon webcams. Shit tons of snow. Which may be fine for your purposes but marginal for most.

Lol. I drove by on Saturday. There's like 2 feet of snow covering everything starting at like 3000 feet, about 4 feet at the (very unplowed) Bowman Lake road turnoff. Gonna be buried for a while.

Thanks for the response! Will have to stay inside or go to the coast/jailhouse.

Anyone know if bowman lake road/emeralds is open? Hoping to go there in a couple weeks.

With a last name like that, I would think you should know!

Emeralds is good to climb but some snow patches and grimy rock

But in 2 weeks all bets are off. Check closer to then.

The way this winter is going, it might be too hot in a couple weeks!

Checking in for an update for the Emeralds. Not from the area, but I imagine with the low snow levels the area should be clear?

Also, curious what the dispersed camping is like.

Emeralds are completely clear. I have no information on the Bowman road but was just at 7000' a couple of passes south and it's all clear. I would be surprised if the road wasn't open but don't actually know from first hand knowledge this season.

Dispersed camping is only limited by your creativity and the nature of your rig. Past the Yuba River crossing all the way out to Bowman are countless opportunities.

Climbed at Emeralds on Saturday.  A few routes were a bit wet at base but overall conditions were good.  Very busy.  Go mid week if you can as it's much quieter.  I've been there over Memorial weekend and it was a zoo.  Cheers.
