Hello all!  We are very excited to be planning a trip to Yosemite Valley next fall and are hoping to bring our truck camper.  In 2018 we were still able to pull off the road outside the national park and sleep in our cars, but I have heard they have cracked down on this in the El Portal area and this is no longer allowed.  I am hoping to get some campsites in the valley when they come up for grabs however I am sure these are snatched up quickly, and was wanting to have a backup plan if I cannot get a campsite in the Valley.  Any suggestions for private campsites or if there is dispersed camping that can be driven too with a high clearance vehicle? Thanks in advance!

Most everything around rush creek right outside of the 120 West gate is national forest and it’s all legal camping up there. A bit further than el portal from the valley floor (30 mins) but it’s the closest legal area that will never run out of parking spots

If you do end up on NF land, try to be discreet and accommodating to others, it can end up being quite busy.

Indian Flat RV park just outside of El Portal is privately run.

During the fall, Tioga Pass will be open and there is BLM land around Mono Lake.
