Red Springs/Calico Basin Bouldering Access

Apologies for a noob out-of-towner question. Around 1-1.5 years ago a considerable amount of documentation and footage emerged of this area. I know it was on Kaya for a while, but there is no an access issue warning and the developer scrubbed everything from the app. Is there actual access issues with the park or is a development/publication related issue? If the latter is there still any ways to get in contact with individuals regarding the bouldering in this vicinity? |

All climbs are in those areas are in the current southern nevada bouldering guide. The only exception being the new stuff at the top of red springs that has been developed since the most recent book came out. Also majority of the climbs for that area are on this website. So not sure what your asking... if your curious why the information is not a kaya, that I can only wager guesses on, which I wont, perhaps do some research about kaya and come to your own conclusions. |

Gitty Kitty is not in the guidebook or Mountain Project, but looks easy enough to find. If you check, that boulder and Finish Line have the same access warning and note about the developer pulling the climbs off the app. There was development past Red Springs (accessible from the first pullout as well), but those videos I earmarked are gone. If you zoom in on the map fairly close it shows grey pins most of which you cannot click on. Hopefully I'm majorly mis-remembering things. I had saved videos from these areas and it just shows up as a blank black box. |

A quick Google shows that gitty kitty is on the tickle pickle boulder, which is in the book. As to your other statements, I dont know. Maybe just go for a walk and see what you find? |

If you're talking about Upper Red Spring, the Google Earth app mentioned in the description is still available and has pretty detailed beta on all of those boulders. It takes a minute to load for me. The film "Keep Going" about the development of the area seems to have been made private on Youtube. As others have mentioned, the latest guidebook is pretty up to date with boulders in the area prior to that. There are no major access issues that I know of in the area you described with the exception of Drum Circle Boulder. |

andy rwrote: Yes, this I was able to ascertain since the boulder was in the book (the problem wasn't), but many of the others were not so it's not that helpful. Unfortunately just walking around isn't exactly a feasible use of limited visiting time if I could simply get in touch with someone involved in the area. Doing so would also allow me to ask important questions such as "do you mind if I am climbing on things you are developing" so I do not step on any toes as an out-of-towner. |
