Eldorado Canyon State Park - Extensive Closures - 8/26/25
Good afternoon. On August 26, 2025, most of Eldorado Canyon State Park will be closed to visitors. A very large crane will install a bridge that connects from the Milton Boulder to the base of the West Ridge Trail. That crane will occupy most of the roadway, and that makes staging rescues in most of the canyon far too difficult on rescuers and other emergency services providers. On August 26th, the only open crags will be:
Please know that this decision was made out of concern for the safety of park visitors and emergency responders. Those of you who were around for the 2013 flood know that Eldorado reopened to visitation and climbing well before neighboring areas; park staff is resolute in its mission to provide outdoor recreation opportunities for all visitors. This decision was made after consultation with all adjacent land managers and emergency services providers. Respectfully Mike |
