Best resoler

Danny Herrerawrote: Is his work worth the cost? $65 to $80 to resole and then shipping is $30 for return shipping for 3 pairs. Pretty steep! |

Totally worth the cost from the pair we got back from him. Better than new in my mind because shoes are broken in. Use the exact same sole compound. Either X Edge or X Grip2 your choice. |

Aweful experience with Rodeo Resole. Out of 6 pairs sent to him, 4 pairs blew within a couple of months, 1 pair (Solutions) got a toe cup that was not asked for and became an approach shoe after all. The screw up like that took 12 weeks, and he was rude in communication. |

Anastasia Blwrote: Thanks for the heads up. I'll never send in my shoes to Rubber room in Bishop after a toe cap. My miuras felt clunky and ill fitting after their work. I dropped these off in person and the guy that took them asked if I wanted to climb in them longer because there was that much rubber left. I've had mixed results but overall pretty good with Yosemite bum and they are definitely the most cost effective. Free return shipping with 5+ pairs. I think im going to try GTG with 3 of my now discontinued models. Will report back in a couple months. |

Rock and Resole wasn't good. The soles began to peel off - so much so that there was a 1/4 inch or more of space - at approximately 2 weeks after the work was done, I asked for a modification, something specific, and they did something entirely different. I left voicemails and sent emails, but no one responded. This thread has been and will be like all the others. Every resoler will get good and bad reviews, some will get more bad reviews than others. Take your chances. |

Just got 2 pairs back from Backcountry Cobbler - great work, price, and turnaround time. |

maybe someone better educated on cobblery can chime in, but i imagine, with a good grinding tool, a blow drier, some cement, and the la sportiva edgeless patch, that at home resoles could be pretty simple. Just take off your old edge and glue the edgeless patch on? |

Evolve Yosemite Bum did a great job with my old shamans (I have to break them in again...). |

I've had excellent experiences with The Rubber Room in Bishop, CA and with Yosemite Bum in Tustin, CA
EDIT: I still recommend Yosemite Bum for sport shoes, but not for TC Pros. Both pairs of TC Pros I've had resoled there have come back with noticeably taller toe profiles which is the absolute opposite of what I want to see in a shoe that I crack climb with. |

hector acostawrote: I did too, and that's why I brought my shoes to them. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted. Not fair, really, since they don't have a chance to tell their side. |

Valley Shoe Repair in Yucca. I’ve sent them many pairs of shoes over the past few years and each has come back perfect. They’re on the expensive side but totally worth the price. |

Valley Shoe Repair. Same experiences as Andrew. |

Yosemite Bum did a good job with my Tenayas. I feel like my Mastias don't perform quite as well as factory for edging, but maybe that's to be expected. Given that both shoes had holes in the rubber and rand damage I'm pleased. The fit feels the same as factory. |

My experience, so your mileage may vary: Rock and Resole: Used them handful of times, was cheap at first and the resoles were good. Eventually the resoles got worse and the price went up more and more. Nowadays I see that even for a skwama resole it'll cost $10 more on top of the $60 resole cause it's a full pad? Greater Tahoe Gripworks: Really fine work for La Sportiva shoes. Good pricing at the start when I sent in my first pair awhile back and now has become pricey. But I continue to use them for La Sportiva resoles cause they do really good work. Haven't tried sending in Scarpa shoes in yet since they started taking Scarpa shoes recently. Rubber Room: Used loads of times, good work, good pricing, only issue is the resole is slow so don't expect a fast return if you need them quickly. Yosemite Bum: Used exclusively for Evolv shoes so unsure about other brands. Good resoles, honestly really impressed with how they hold up as I use Evolv X1 at the gym with walltopia walls. That sandpaper wall is brutal on shoes. Broken in shoes with a nice new edge is really nice. No issues with sizing changes for me. |
