New to Carson City, looking for friends and partners!

Hello!

My wife and I will be moving from Montana to Carson City this month and we are looking for new friends and climbing partners. I am 33 years old and have been climbing for 14 years. I coached professionally for the last 9 years and am experienced in bouldering, sport and trad climbing. My wife is newer to the sport, but psyched on making friends and getting outside. I know there is no climbing gym in Carson City proper, so if anyone has a home wall and would like some company please feel free to reach out as well. We are hoping to build our own home gym in the near future.

Should be a few climbers around Carson. There’s a big Woodfords crew and I know Reno has a rather large climbing community. I know what it’s like not having people who climb in your area and the lack of a gym. Makes things hard. I’m in the Susanville area. Absolutely no climbers here.

Mesa rim climbing gym in Reno is not that far as it's in South Reno so depending where you are about a half an hour from Carson for me

I live in Carson City and am always looking to do some climbing when time allows.  Prison Hill and Dinosaur rock are two local areas, but we are close to other areas...Spooner and Ballbuster for example.  Feel free to reach out.  Don

I also live in Carson. I end up LRSing a lot but my schedule is wide open so I'd be happy to partner up. I like Woodfords the most of the local areas, but I spend a lot of time down south in the summer.

I'm also a builder so LMK if you need help with your wall plan! I tried going to Mesa for a bit last year but it was too far, too, expensive, and too crowded for my tastes.

I live in Sparks and I am looking for partners. Carson City is on my way to many fun places! I like to boulder, sport climb, trad climb and multi-pitch climb. I work during the week. I'm often available to climb both weekend days and i can leave town Friday after work. This time of year, I was thinking to check out some multi-pitch routes in Pine Creek. Once the snow melts off, I'd like to check out some High Sierra routes.

Sunday, I took a quick exploratory visit to The Acorns, a bouldering area off 88. It is a bit of a walk, but easy to find. The trail is obvious and there is no snow. The setting is nice. The boulders I checked out so far, were just OK. A couple of weekends before that, I checked out sport climbing at Owl Rock. The few routes I climbed were short and scrappy, but I had fun.

I want to climb this weekend, but there is some rain in the forecast.

According to an update I saw, they are almost done plowing snow on Sonora Pass / 108. Once that is complete, so climbing at Columns of the Giants will be available (without having to drive in from the West side).

SHORT NOTICE!!!  I'm new to Sparks. I've been going solo to North Peak, mostly to hit up the auto-belays.  But I haven't yet made it outside.  It should be cool tomorrow and less windy than today.  I'd prefer to stay close maybe try Owl Rock.  But I've never been there.  Anyone familiar?  I have rope and a dozen draws, and I'd love to get my fingers on some moderates (up to the lower 5.10's).

Headed out for errands now.  I'll check back a little later.

I am new to Reno and also looking for more partners. Been climbing at Mesa Rim and getting out to Donner and Lovers Leap a bit. Would love to get after some bigger alpine objectives but I just like getting out in any capacity. Not really working right now and have a wide open schedule! 

Hi Nikolaj! Welcome to Reno! I've been living here for a little over a year. Jeff and I had a nice day at Owl Rock yesterday. Yes, it is short and scrappy, but the rock is good and the routes are fun. I climb at Mesa Rim. We could climb at Mesa Rim this week and maybe something bigger next weekend! I will send you a PM.

Anyone free weekdays? Trying to get up to Donner mid week as much as possible. 

Looking for midweek climbers interested in doing ground up FA’s in the Carson Pass and Tahoe areas. Competent climbers with a bit of experience able to climb (or at least follow) 5.11 preferred. Would be cool if you took the sharp end occasionally. A healthy dose of ignorance required.

Looking for people interested in doing route maintenance in these areas as well.  Replacing old junk bolts and general route hardware inspection at various crags. A general understanding of basic construction and rope rigging required. If you can replace a toilet, you can replace a bolt. Having an abundance of old ropes is a plus. Must be willing to carry ridiculously heavy loads, and labor intensely for hours on end with zero recognition.

Open to regular climbing as well. Prone to climbing obscure crap which may foster regret. Just FYI.

There are different channels for major areas within about a 2 hour drive of Reno/Carson, as well as Gym threads.

I'm a technical person and I use Discord on occasion, but IDK if it is used much by non-technical people. Maybe only 1 of the people I climb with regularly would know what Discord is.
