Any services offer gear drops here? Never had a portered experience but we've got a larger group of friends this year and some folks are interested in this if it's an option.

An outfitter in Pinedale told me the only folks to service that area are at Big Sandy Lodge but they can be tough to get ahold of.

I dont mind packing my gear out but wouldn't mind getting to beef up our food packs for a better backcountry Cirque-cuterie board this year!

Thanks!

I've only ran into this company on the trail in the winds, but heard great things.

I did some research on this years ago, can't recall the actual companies I found, but some light googling found this page: https://windriver.org/experience/outfitters-guides/

Drop Trips – Make your own trip and hire an outfitter to pack in and drop your gear, and pack out.  Drop trips available for backpackers into Gannett Peak.

Not sure if that's only to Gannett, or just an example

Just an update.. I got in touch with Big Sandy Lodge, the only folks who service Big Sandy Trailhead as far as I know. The do drops as far as North Creek above Big Sandy Lake. They quoted 300$ per horse. This leaves you a couple of miles from campsites in the Cirque. The lodge was hard to get ahold of but a few texts/emails got a response.

The hike with gear to north creek drop is the mostly flat easy part. From there to the Cirque is the hard part and horses can’t go in from that side. You will work for the final gear haul up down and up then into the cirque if you have horse sized loads. Look for an outfitter out of Lander. Longer hike but more possible to get a horse up to the Cirque.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
