Chappy was a prominent Yosemite climber, taking part in important ‘70s and ‘80s FAs, such as that of the Widows Tears, with Kevin Worral. He was an outgoing host, housing me, my gf and our kids on one visit, and leading me up some good climbs, including New Dimensions and the DNB, on another. He knew I wanted to talk with Charlie Porter, and he made it happen. He was also an excellent photographer, earning at least one cover. He did well with rigging and real estate. My deep condolences go to his family and friends.

Tad, you normally have to add one space after a link (on this site) or it will not work?

See if this will make the link work:

And wow, this is really sad news.

Damn. Just damn.
I thought he had more time. A few of us went to his place to visit him last May. We sat around telling stories and laughing till our sides hurt. You don’t walk away from glioblastoma…..

Hi all,

This is Anji, Mark's daughter. The Chapman family is planning a celebration of life for my dad in El Portal on May 31. As part of the celebration, I am putting together a slide show and I am looking for photos of my dad from his climbing and Yosemite Valley days. If you have any such photos, I'd be grateful if you would share them.

If you have photos to share or want more info on attending the Celebration of Life, please sent an email to yosemiteiceclimber@gmail.com

Thanks for sharing your kind words and memories - they mean a lot to our family!

Anji
