New Mexico – Diablo Canyon Pit Toilet
|
|
The toilet at the Diablo Canyon BLM campground near Santa Fe was locked all weekend so I’m assuming this is the new state of things with all this Trump administration’s BS. Lots of people are already doing their business behind the pit toilet building which is evidenced by the growing amount of toilet paper on the ground. Please have a toilet plan if you’re planning to camp/climb/hike at Diablo this spring/summer. |

Is the toilet still closed? Heading there for the first time this weekend. Does the camping at the crag get "full" or is there always some room to squeeze in? |

Toilet was still closed this last weekend. Looks like it's unavailable for the foreseeable future. Please bring wag bags/another solution. Diablo gets way too much traffic for everyone to just be pooping all over the place. |

I think it's amazing the progress America is now making after we've slashed the forest service toilet paper budget. |

Will bring some wag bags, thanks for the beta. |

Every organization is at a complete standstill with frozen budgets. Getting this Diablo toilet was a huge win for everyone who visits that canyon. It’s very disheartening to see it closed so quickly. |

How did the native people of this land do it before this monumental life changing shitter…..It stank anyways….Now, we can climbs walls not stalls! |

One more question actually - It looks like the crag is very close to the Rio Grande. Can we camp at the river? If you want to be discreet please DM me and I'll keep it on the DL. Maps make it look like you can just drive past the crag and hit the river. |

The land at the end of the road near the Rio Grande is Santa Fe National Forest. You can reach them at 505-438-5300 to ask if dispersed camping is allowed at the end of Old Buckman Road. |
