Sardinia?

I have the 2010-2011 version of the linked guide. It is in 3 languages, including English. The link announces a new 2025 edition. I got guidebook in town, at the climbing shop when I visited. I don't know if the shop is still there. It worked fine for all the coastal crags in Cala Gonone. I only climbed there, so I did not investigate guides to other areas. Hope that helps.

Thanks Jay! Any idea the name of the shop? Saw a lot of “outdoor” shops but not sure if there’s any climbing specific stores where I’d have a higher likelihood of finding a guidebook

Hi Micaela, It was probably Stile Alpino, Via della Pineta, 2, 08022 Cala Gonone NU, Italy. I think they have another store in another town. But their web address is: http://www.stilealpino.net/

Cala Gonone is a very small town, you can walk around and find everything you need pretty easily. You can rent speed boats to go to the beach crags, or there is a shuttle boat that stops at all the beaches every hour or two. It is very fun, all limestone sport. The pinnacle route (on first page of this discussion) could use some gear, as it is an old route.

The hike out to the spire is no big deal if you don’t want to get a boat. It’s a short drive to the trailhead from Cala Gonone.  It’s a pretty hike. Also, the route we climbed on the spire (Sole Encantore?) was fully bolted. Beautiful area.

Dirtbag climbing shop in Ulassai for guidebooks and beta.   I’ll be arriving Thursday for two weeks.  Very psyched.

Anyone lugging a rack out there to climb at Capo Pecora? Worth it or no? Looks like a pretty wild and awesome set of features.

Capo Pecora is 100% worth it if the weather is good. It’s kind of a long drive but the climbing is amazing and totally unique.

Has anyone climbed at Baunei/Oligastra and can say a word on how it compares to Ulassai in terms of climbing quality, crag assess and food options in town? I'm debating about whether to spend time in those options after staying in Cala Gonone.

Also if someone has a guidebook they want to sell in the US, I'm looking for one as well.

5th editions, a little older than the new pubs. Could get them shipped this Saturday but they're sentimental, so please I do want them back

Which airport do i want to fly into (looks like there are 3) & are there any climbing hostels on the island? How's the solo climber scene?

Fly from Rome to Oblia, and rent a car. If you are already in Europe with a car, there are ferries, but I think they are longish, or overnight trips. As far as finding others, not sure, maybe Cala Fuili or the cave just north of the town harbor would be a good bets.

Nannai Climbing Hostel has an active whatsapp group and also lots of climbers in the dorms. There's also the climbing sardinia facebook group.
