I use a painter's pole (Ettore brand) as a stick clip, and it's always been a shit walking stick because the end is blunt and slips when you try to lean on it. I wanted to make it stabby.
I used a hair dryer to heat up the end cap and pull it off, drilled a 1/2" hole through the end (pilot hole helped), then shoved a trekking pole tip through the end, reheated the cap, and put it back on. There's another piece of plastic under the end cap that works as a backstop so the tip doesn't just get shoved back up into the pole. Very easy and genuinely a huge improvement.
