Aerial herbicide treatment in Vedauwoo?

Hi, i was thinking of visiting Vedauwoo area, but the MP page indicates that the gates are still closed for aerial herbicide treatments. The link provided, however, leads a to USDA message from last year. Does anyone know if that's still an issue? Thanks for your help! |

I don’t think the gates are closed for the herbicides, they generally don’t open them until May 15. You can still hike in though. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. |

No you're right Aaron. The gates close every winter/spring until Memorial Day ish. It's for the dirt roads so they don't get wrecked, not the herbicide. That's just cheatgrass spraying which is pretty common in areas with a large cattle population from what I understand (no expert here). The Voo ain't closed. |

Probably not. You’ll have to hike in a little bit more. The Nautilus and Poland Hill could work… I’ve never tried camping before the gates open so I can’t really speak to that. |

They are spraying and the gates will be closed until late june. Huge bummer |

I tried last year in early May and found a notice for Cheatgrass spraying. This was not posted online, but on the bulletin boards outside the gates I am not sure about this year but it seemed like something they did every spring. Would be great to know when this is no longer an issue in the area. I will note, you are still able to climb there but you have to hike in from the gates. |

The gates usually open late may. Call the local FS office and they will tell you. |
