New Vedauwoo Guidebook
EDIT: The book is officially off to print and preorders are available at splitterhousepublishing.com. Books aren't expected until the end of July but I can provide PDF copies to those looking to use the book before they come in. See website or below for more details. Hey Everyone, I’ve spent the last three years putting together a new Vedauwoo guidebook. Seeing as it’s been largely complete for a while now, the time seemed right for an MP post to put the word out a bit. I’m currently trying to figure out the financial side of this whole endeavor and get it off to print (who knew printing a guidebook was so expensive!), so I don’t have an exact timeline for it but I’m hoping to have it off to the printers by the end of the month. Hopefully available by late May / early June. The working title is currently Vedauwoo Climbing: A Crackonomicon. There’s over 1,000 routes in the book mainly focused on the crags along Vedauwoo Road and the Blairs, and a handful of areas out off Happy Jack. The focus is on free climbing. It excludes boulders (John’s books got that covered excellently!) and aid routes. I’ve reached out to a lot of folks while compiling this guide (including plenty of unanswered emails, messages, etc.), but definitely not everyone. I know The Voo is a special place to a lot of people, so if anyone has any questions/comments/concerns about a new book I am happy to answer and address them. Feel free to message me or post up here. You can also email me at todd@splitterhousepublishing.com I’ve got a basic website up with a small sample of the book if anyone wants to see what to expect. It’s just a few pages from The Central Area, so don’t get too excited. The link is here: www.splitterhousepublishing.com Also, a huge shoutout to The Southeast Wyoming Climber’s Coalition! They are doing some excellent work in caring for The Voo. Donate or volunteer your time if you are able! Thanks! This is my first guidebook, never knew what a massive endeavor writing these things was! |

Wow Todd! This is rad, thanks for taking the time and effort to explore the Voo and document it in another book. I met you a few years ago at Gorilla Rock where my followers couldn’t free my nut from Gloria, you were able to clean it and ran it over to us after. There was also a boreal owl in the tree. Magical. |

Photo topo format is quality work! Looks really well compiled and laid out. Bravo! |
Looks phenomenal Todd, great work! |
Can't wait to order a copy (or 2 or 3)! |
Looks great! Thank you for your hard work putting this together. I look forward to buying the first edition! I don't really climb any more but books like this are still inspiring. |
Are there additional graphics added with your Apple 2E state of the art computing computer? |
I actually made the upgrade to the 2E+ supercomputing computer during Covid. |
Thanks Todd! Can’t wait to see the finished product on the shelves! |
Can’t wait to get this!! Have a late June trip there planned so hoping it’s done in time! so |
I was wondering if the area is still closed for areal spraying. The link on the mountain project page leads to a usda release from 2024. |
I never knew that Vedauwoo was closed for this… thought of it more as a “psa”. |

Thanks for the kind words everyone! You never quite know with this rowdy crew of miscreants that roam these forums... The book is officially off to print and expected to arrive on July 26th! This isn't quite as early as I was hoping, but alas with the tariff and supply chain issues going on, it is what it is. Preorders are available at splitterhousepublishing.com. If you are psyched on a new book and financially able, any and all preorders would be ginormously appreciated! I decided to go the self-publishing route, which turned out to be vastly more expensive than I originally thought. You probably don't know me and have little reason to trust a word I say, but I promise the book is good.... or at the very least averagely mediocre. There's a small sample of the book up on the website and I'm happy to provide a PDF copy to those looking to climb in The Voo before the book is in from the printer. Just shoot me an email after placing your order! What to expect: More than 300 additional routes than in either of the current guides, sun and shade beta for all crags, accurate topos, enough sandbags to keep you angry with me for years to come, rack recommendations, and most other various and sundry things you'd expect from a guidebook. Email me here or at todd@splitterhousepublishing.com with any questions, comments, concerns, or death threats. Thanks y'all! |

Is this going to be available to buy in stores in Laramie and Fort Collins or is direct order through the website only? |
Hell ya. Clicking the buttons as fast as possible! |
Hey Jonathan, it will indeed available at some local shops once the books are actually in. As of now it'll for sure be at Basecamp and All Terrain Sports in Laramie, Whetstone and Ascent in Fort Collins, Rock and Resole in Boulder, Bentgate in Golden, and Wild Iris in Lander. I actually work at a shop myself, so certainly would not fault anyone for waiting to buy it at their favorite local spot! I'm currently doing this to a) start to get the book out there for folks who are interested and b) to recoup some of my initial investment into the project. Many of the shops listed above supported me by putting an ad in the guide, so preorder now or buy it from them when it's out to say thanks, it's all good! |

I can’t even wait! |
