Update from the SNCC

Hello friends! The SNCC mission is to protect access to climbing in Southern Nevada by encouraging responsible stewardship and community involvement among local climbers.  In 2025, we introduced two dedicated board positions for liaisons with our local land managers within the BLM and the Forest Service.

In January, the SNCC held a public meeting where one of the topics was the Climbing Management Plan for RRCNCA. From the large turnout, the questions raised, and the energetic discussion, it is clear how much our climbing community cares about climbing access on our public lands and wants information and input on any CMP process.

Daily headlines demonstrate federal uncertainty, but SNCC has been actively engaged with local land managers at the BLM and has ongoing national advocacy support from the Access Fund. We have regular meetings with both entities, and we’re working on answers to your CMP questions. In addition, we’re exploring the possibility of bringing an Access Fund Climbing Steward program to RRCNCA as another way to foster our mutual goals. Climber Stewards engage with climbers to promote conservation, providing information and resources to help them minimize environmental impact. The chief goals are education and connection out in the field.

Over the upcoming year, we will be preparing educational resources like an FAQ page on our website so that you can stay informed, and maintaining open channels so that your voices are heard.

Please consider this just an early update of more to come!
