I'm looking to climb in the Black. I have only done 3 real routes there in the past. Scenic Cruise, Crystal Vision, and Astrodog (no bivi). I would like to do more, such as Stoned Oven, Atlantis. Tague Your Time would be cool but would be quite hard, probably.  Shoot me a message or a text.

Hi Walden. Fyi, the North Rim will be gated during the dates in your post title. They are estimated to open mid May. See: https://www.nps.gov/blca/planyourvisit/conditions.htm

Keep in mind the road has consistently opened late in the last several years for factors that are best discussed in another thread. *I've removed my additional comments as off topic.

Harvest, I remember the discussion about cuts to SAR in the aftermath of the Great White Wall rescue, but where are you getting that he wants to ban climbing?

(Sorry for the thread hijack Walden, but hopefully at least your request gets some more exposure.)

A very credible source told me that climbing has been a point of contention with former superintendents and that they have indeed tried to prohibit climbing in the past.

I don't know anything about the current superintendent but it seems believable given the history of the park and the nature of goofy ass superintendents.

What the superintendents don't know is that they can all lick my ass.

Yikes. I'd heard about possible fixed anchor bans but not a wholesale prohibition on climbing. Hopefully the PARC Act will head that off now.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
