I apologize for the pain my comment seems to have dealt some of you. my point was that though the placement may be improbable, it wasnt necessary. I'll admit though that most people's improbably aid placements come from either not having the correct gear at a point in a pitch or being off route and not using the placements that would be more obvious to a more experienced climber. Thus, my pointing that out ignores that most of the pictures in the thread suffer from lacking the purity of being a required improbable placement, which of course was not a requirement of the thread topic. So anyway….. you clip both ladders together, engage the trigger keepers and toss the #6 across this 8’ gap, hope the keepers pop (one didn’t), and then pull yourself across. 

Climbed a day at Montserrat a few weeks ago (didn’t do any aid climbing). This is a photo from the guidebook of what appears to be a leadhead trapping a loop of cord in a horizontal. Cool trick

Yes, you can find some weird stuff climbing at Montserrat… fixed wooden blocks, fencing wire through holes… The popular routes are pretty clean, though.
