Unknown mega OW in First Creek
|
Anyone have any info on this mega looking off-width in First creek? Took this picture looking west while climbing on the strawberry hill Buttress. Couldn't find any info on it on here or in the guide. With how insane it looks and how prominently visible it is in First Creek, I would be surprised if it hasn't already gotten a FA. |

Looks like a blast. Going to file this away for my next trip out there |

Ive taken this same photo like….. 75 times. The approach to the base looks not super fun. But damn, it sure is pretty. |

I hiked out to check this out a few weeks ago. It is very pretty, but much shorter than it looks, maybe only 40-45 ft. The crux is also likely a few moves of lay-back down low before getting into the crack, which is under-vertical the rest of the way. I still may go back out and climb it sometime, that is unless someone else beats me to it... The hike to the base is a little adventurous, but not terrible and there were even some cairns in the vicinity. 1 hr |

How about typical Matt Kuehl? Actually walks up to the thing but doesn't climb it. Also no photo. Also claims he will come back for it, unless someone else does because he only does FA's? |

Ha! Yeah I wanted to check it out before lugging in gear. I left the base thinking it was too short to be worth the hike back in, but later looking at the photos thought it really should be climbed at least once. It probably won't be classic, but a good addition to RR wide obscurities. If anyone wants to climb it, I encourage you, and if you need a partner let me know. Here are some photos. For scale, you can easily grab the top of that flake while standing at the base. |

Hmmmm, I may need to hoof it out there and have a whack at it. Short, unclassic, and wide sounds like my kind of jam. Thanks for the pics, Matt! |
