Bouldering in the Wet Mountains of southern Colorado

I read recently that Austin Geiman has a guidebook in the works for bouldering in the Wet Mountains. I'm moving to Pueblo, CO soon and would love to find out more! Does anyone have information about the bouldering here? I've been to Newlin Creek several times (very hard to find info about new development for this area), and I've seen some stray posts on 27crags and VerticalLife about bouldering in Oak Creek Canyon along Grade Road, but that's it. Any suggestions or discussion about bouldering here and around Pueblo would be very appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you're wanting to keep locations undisclosed.

Josh, I have lived in Pueblo West for forty years and before that for several years in Pueblo. I climbed and bouldered in the vicinity for many years, starting in 1971. Some of this is in Pat Ament's book about me, Master of Rock. Pay me a visit when you arrive. I'm convalescing at home.

Out of curiosity, why are you moving to Pueblo? I came here in 1971 to join the faculty at the university.

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. I'm a big fan, actually--I've been meaning to read Master of Rock. I have heard about many of the climbs documented in there (as well as the access issues), in addition to enjoying several of your epononymous "Gill Problems" at various crags. Coincidentally, I'm also pursuing a faculty position at the university, which is part of the reason why I'm moving to Pueblo.

The other reason is to access outdoor climbing. My wife's family live outside Salida, and I've spent the last few summers climbing in the Arkansas River Valley, Wet Valley, and San Luis Valley, all of which are incredible and seeing increased climbing development. I love the climbing here and its remoteness from the Front Range crowds. Anyway, I'll look forward to chatting more when I get to Pueblo!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
