I’ve lent my cams out to friends for trips to Indian creek or routes locally that require multiples of weird sizes, and borrowed gear in the same way. My rule of thumb when borrowing or lending is gear has to be returned in good condition. If a piece gets stuck or damaged in a fall it has to be replaced promptly for the person. So far I’ve had nothing but good experiences with it.

FWIW one area has been that I’ll decline to lend anything to folks if I feel that they’re going to do something stupid. I’m not going to lend a rack to even a good friend who doesn’t really know how to lead on gear.

I lend gear to people who if they mess that gear up, break it or lose it, will replace it in kind or cash. I borrow gear form people whom expect the same.
