8/14 ten sleep accident adjacent quickdraws

My friend and I cleaned the draws left on the center route. We also grabbed the anchor system to the left and the draw at the first bolt of the route to the right. I’d love to get all of this gear back to the owners.

We thought we could catch people at the parking but everyone had already left.

I hope everyone is ok. Can we know what happened—that is, are there any lessons learned the climbing community should know about? Again, hope all involved are ok.

Condolences to anyone involved.

The draws belonged to a physician and his daughter who were visiting from Wisconsin. They started driving back the same day. He said he didn’t want the draws, so you are welcome to keep them.

The guy got distracted and didn’t finish tying his knot. 

Glad everyone was ok (it appears from your report above, Laura). That is very good news. Sounds like he might be in the lucky Lynn Hill Club. I know I have tied in to just part of my harness—luckily partner caught it—so things can happen to anyone in a moment of distraction. Now, I don’t make conversation when my partner is tying in… and I ask the same of him when I am busy with my knot.

Oh, wow, Laura. I completely misinterpreted your last post about the two “driving back”. I’m so sorry this happened. That’s just awful. 

Oof. A terrible reminder to always check your knot, your climbers knot.
