Bail gear: rewritten, eldo

Well the “afternoon thunderstorms” moved in around 11 this morning while me and my little brother were climbing Rewritten. I lowered off some cams mid pitch 4 in hopes of waiting out the storm. We hunkered down for over an hour at the top of pitch 3 but he got too wet and cold so we bailed on some more gear. I’m 18 and trying to save up for my own rack so this was actually all borrowed gear and I’d love to get it back. Sorry for the sob story but thanks for the help anyways haha. If anyone happens to snag it feel free to text me and I can pick it up wherever

Dude… get your little brother out of bed tomorrow at 0400 and bust back up the root.

Because you realized that leaving gear was a better option than getting struck by lightning or letting your little brother go hypothermic, I suspect you are smarter than 99% of 18-year-old males, myself included at that age. I hope you get your gear back!

For cheap racks, The Gear Room in SLC had a pretty wide selection of used cams and nuts the other day.

Did anyone recover the cams who reads this forum? Looks like a no so far. Good call on the bail, guys. A friend got hit by lighting on the Naked Edge years ago and his brain got really fuxxored by that. He definitely recommends not getting hit by lighting.

No idea if this offer still stands, but Mark Smiley has previously offered to replace some gear left in situations like this: https://smileysproject.smugmug.com/Anchors

Headed up tomorrow morning. If it’s still there, i’ll recover it and reach out!

Watching this thread… and hoping these enthusiastic youngsters get their gear back. Then they can pay it forward as they continue on with their climbing careers, thus making the climbing world (and the world in general) a better place!

Was the 2nd party up Rewritten today and told the first group that you were hoping to retrieve your gear.  Caught up with them after we returned to the base & all they said they found a single alien cam. Hopefully another party snagged your stuff this past weekend and will reach out.

I thought we were supposed to leave the trees alone.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
