Fall color rainbow.

This year in Vermont, it hasn’t been our best Fall foliage season. On a five star scale, I’d give it 21/2 stars, (and I’m an easy grader…)

Our trout are making up for it….

Absolutely fabulous color.  I didn’t measure it; but I’m guessing 17+++”. (And I'm not a “Big-Eyer...")

Caught one a bit smaller, and missed another in the same stretch.  Casting a Black Ghost streamer into a narrow channel with overhanging trees. It was exactly as described in Trout Fishing in America: “12, 845 telephone booths in a row with high Victorian ceilings and all the doors taken off and all the backs of the booths knocked out…”. (Author is Richard Brautigan, if you haven’t read it, you should…)

Add to it: I’m almost up to the top of my waders, on soft muddy bottom…

Totally awesome experience…

Late fall feeding patterns can make for some outstanding Grayling days. Had a bit of time to kill today. Ended up 6/7 in about an hour, all similarly sized.

Spotted this rainbow on a short approach & was able to go back & find success with the glass making it all the more fun.

Ditto that...POW in AK last September.  Within an hour of getting a license, first salmon ever on a fly for Jen:

Humpy...

Always fun to try for reds on a fly...second cast:

Got lucky with the weather....two weeks and I think it barely sprinkled twice.

Good fun.

Looks like the Harris!!

My wife Yvonne just caught this 8 pound cutthroat trout at Pyramid Lake, Nevada.

Here's one I caught in full spawning colors!

None of my fish belong in a thread about large trout but here is a nice 10” cutthroat 5 minutes from my house with a tenkara rod
