Angel’s Way - Flatirons
|
|
The Raptor Closure has been lifted early for Skunk Canyon so I am looking to complete Angel’s Way. I will do it alone if I must but it would give me more confidence and peace of mind with a partner or two. Probably looking at sometime this next week in the early morning before it gets hot. |

I love this climb. Happy to do this sometime this week, especially if we can jog to/from. Shoot me a pm/email. |

Recent photos show poison ivy to be fat and healthy on the approach. Be prepared. |

The closure WAS lifted on 5/31, but near the newer trail up Hillbilly there's still a closure sign up, which made me think twice when I was on a hike last week (and I thought a third time and headed up). If it's still up, we should tell OSMP to take it down. There's a sign up near the d/c of Hippo Head too. Not much PI before there, but that rad tree with the wide canopy is often a place for napping, and I almost walked over someone doing so right on the trail! |

Long Rangerwrote: OSMP is aware that the sign is still up in lieu of the closure. They'll take it down soon. I was on AW this week and the poison ivy is there, but definitely avoidable if you are willing to move a little slower/methodically. It's most noticible in the gulley. |

Route looks awesome. I’d love to do this this Friday or Saturday, possibly Sunday. What do you think? |

Thank you for your responses. Apologies for not getting back, I ended up going at it solo today. It was brilliant, I would highly recommend. The ridge itself is a little hard to find but so worth it! Easy to follow the holds and path of least resistance. There are several somewhat vertical sections you have to clamber over to get back on the slab. The climbing is varied and the crack is really neat. Even some face climbing. The decent I took was the gully next to it that I would describe as the poison ivy gully from hell but it is doable. I will be ready to do it again with any of you a little later in the season. I would definitely recommend as cool a day as possible as it is a looong scramble and the hike in and out are tiring. Again, apologies for not responding back to my initial inquiry, I unexpectedly was able to do it today when work freed up. |

Taking Hillbilly trail may be better to try? There is PI on the trail lower down but at least it’s obvious where it is and avoidable. Just boop east behind Satans slab and Stairway to Heaven and look for it at the bottom of the down climb of Stairway

Anyone know if the third flatiron closures are lifted as well? |

Josh Brandenburgwrote: Hey Josh, Yes, the Third Flatiron is still closed. Your best resource for Wildlife Closures will be the OSMP Site. Here is a map indicating the current Closures: https://maps.bouldercolorado.gov/wildlife-closures/?_ga=2.109564620.831433852.1719334997-1025607431.1717177109 |
