Rumney EV charging

Question for the EV drivers, do you need a place to charge when visiting Rumney Rocks? Our place is 1 mile from the crag, on the way if you were coming from 93 and I've been toying with the idea of putting up a public level 2 charging station since I have parking spots literally 5ft off the road. Is that something that would be helpful for visitors? What would you expect to pay for that? Not really looking to make much money, just offset the cost of the infrastructure investment, which is a couple thousand bucks. Was thinking something like a flat rate gets you parking for the day with charging, a bicycle to borrow to get to the crag, drinking water refill station, and wifi access. We're a climbing couple that moved here several years ago for love of Rumney Rocks, in the process of starting some farmy type businesses. |

I don't have an EV, or even live at Rumney anymore, but wanted to chime in- This is a great idea, I think people would use it. |

I think this is a really good idea! I am an EV driver and would certainly consider using this. I would probably try to hitch a ride from the charger to the crag or rely on gas guzzling friends who I meet up with. $.20-$.30/Kwh is typically the standard rate I see around MA for L2 charging. That's ~$2/hour if the charging speed hovers around 7-10 Kwh |

We live in the Gunks but drive up to our buddy's in Rumney at least once every couple months. We stopped taking our EV because of how annoying it is to find charging... this would probably change our mind. In terms of cost I'm a cheap bastard and would be annoyed having to pay more than equivalent DC charging rates for a 3/4 "tank" since the primary attractor (for me) is not having to drive to a fast charger in Concord or whatever. |

Just to be transparent. It would have to be like $20 for you get the whole day and can reserve. Hence the other little amenities. No other way i could break even on the cost. |

I go to Rumney a couple times a year, have an EV, and would totally do this. |

Dan Fuchswrote: I think it would be reasonable to charge a significant premium for the convenience factor. Also, implicitly it is a parking spot for the day. But I would also probably only use this service if it were reservation-based. (Non-Tesla) chargers are very sparse in Central NH these days and I’d hate to roll up with a nearly empty battery and see someone else charging. |
