rock climbing wrote: Thanks for the Response! The La Sportiva Miura comes from the factory with Bordol Rands. The La Sportiva solution also comes with Bordol rands. The P3 on the solution is either Davos or Ilgal. The Katana Lace rand is either Davos or Ilgal. The original Mythos Rand is 7510 as well as the OG TC Pro. I find that removing the original rand for a toe cap is much faster then grinding the original rand down. It is also safer in my opinion as this process does not introduce unwanted heat from the grinding wheel. Bordol is a full "elastic" rubber, so it will return to its original shape after stretching. The 7510 will not 100% return to its original shape and even a 2.2mm rand might be stretched to0 thin in some places when over pulled. I appreciate your response and I hope we can continue to educate positively. |

I've looked through your instagram. Didn't notice any of the thinning/grinding of the rand you mentioned. If it is harder and more damaging to the shoes why do it? |

Another bad experience here, I sent Brandon 3 pairs of shoes in April along with payment. On May 10th he said they'd be in the mail on May 13th but he's been unresponsive to follow-ups since then. Other posts here give me some hope that he's not committing fraud and the shoes will turn up one day but he's definitely not behaving like someone who cares about his business or customers. If he'd said at any point "sorry, they're going to be 2-3 extra weeks longer than I thought" I wouldn't be writing this negative post. |

Another bad experience here, I sent Brandon 3 pairs of shoes in April along with full payment, on May 10th he said they'd be in the mail on the 13th but since then he's been ignoring my follow-up messages (obviously there's no sign of them.) Other posts here give me some hope that he's not committing fraud/theft and the shoes will show up one day. Apparently he doesn't care about customer experience, repeat business or reputation. If he'd just said "sorry, they are going to take 2-3 weeks longer than expected" I wouldn't be nearly as frustrated. |

jyclimbswrote: You say "April" but it's only 5/24, which seems like you are being intentionally vague about how long he's had your shoes. In the context of shoe repairs, Rock and Resole's lead time is 9 weeks, so even if you sent them 4/1 it's still not even that long, and if you sent them 4/30 then its only been 3 weeks not including shipping. I get the communication issue but casually saying that someone might be committing fraud/theft seems really unfair, especially when you're unclear when you've sent them. I had a great experience with Brandon on communication and craftsmanship. Thank you Brandon! |

P Bwrote: Really, why does it matter when I sent them? I wasn't being "intentionally vague" because it's not relevant, I wasn't asking for opinions on what people think is a good lead or turnaround time. I'll tell you he acknowledged receiving them on 4/20 so you don't continue with that line. I didn't ask for any particular turnaround time but, as mentioned, he did give me the specific ETA that I quoted here. I'm not in a big rush to receive the shoes but when someone says they'll do something, doesn't, then starts ignoring me it makes me a bit concerned... I guess you like that sort of behavior from a business. Perhaps you haven't read the other posts in this thread ;) |
|
|
jyclimbswrote: It's an internet forum, you get opinions for free and don't even have to ask :) He's a one-man show and a good craftsman. Yeah his communication is a little weak but so are major resolers. You'll get your shoes, as I'm sure everyone else in the thread did as well. Calling it fraud or theft is too far. |

Maybe Brandon is out climbing, it's been pretty epic weather to be working inside! |

I can confirm that Brandon is a real person who is passionate about climbing shoes and extending their lives. I sent him 10 pairs of shoes from myself and my friends and they came back with quality repairs and he was extremely detailed in his communications with me explaining the process and options which was awesome for a shoe nerd like me! He did take a little while to get the shoes mailed out after they were complete (although he did complete them quickly after receiving them) but he apologized for the delay and seems to genuinely be a busy guy. I have sent my shoes to several other places to get them resoled and have waited a similar amount of time to get them back and have several pairs so I didn't mind. I'll admit that I did think a benefit of sending the shoes to New Hampshire instead of Colorado or California would be a fast turnaround but I understand the multiple job side hustle life (and have fallen behind on my own obligations with the nice dry spring climbing season we've had) and I recommend that folks continue giving Brandon business so that he can grow Sole On the Roll because he does quality work and is passionate about what he does. |

Hey All! Has anyone heard from Brandon lately? We have not been able to get ahold of him since July. Hope all is well. |

Anthony Ferrantewrote: Hey Anthony! There are no shoes in the Sole on the Roll box here at the shop. It would appear that yours were picked up soon after they were dropped off. However, that was the last time we saw or heard from Brandon. At this point, we are just hoping he is okay. Please let me know if you hear anything from him. brady@ime-usa.com |

His account was active on Mountain Project 4 days ago, so someone at least had access to his phone in October? |

I sent 2 pairs of shoes at the beginning of September… paid him and sent the shoes. I have called him, texted him, and ig messaged him… looks like I'm out $450, $50 for the “repair” and $400 for the 2 pairs of instincts.. rip |

The dude did a great job on my shoes a few months back, communication was difficult but the resole was excellent. Assume he is climbing, be patient. Remind him, don't harass him! |
