The Changelog : December 2023

Hey All,
We've got some updates for you as we enter into 2024! It’s been a busy last 2 months and here are some of the things that we’ve been working on.

Site Updates

• We fixed some issues creating major page speed issues across all of the adventure project sites.
• Updated Content in Progress messages location to prevent layout shifting after the page loads. These messages now live in the global site navigation.
• New News - The Climbing Zine is now in the latest news in the climbing news section.
• Various bug fixes

onX Backcountry + Mountain Project

We’ve launched climbing mode in onX Backcountry! We wanted onX Backcountry to be a complimentary app to Mountain Project. Now you can use onX backcountry to get a premium mapping experience and jump between apps as you're out adventuring. You will find buttons in both apps that allow you to navigate between the two. We’ve found that onX Backcountry’s high res imagery is really useful when navigating new areas, especially if the area location is a little off in Mountain Project. If you’re establishing a new climbing area or exploring areas where private land can result in access issues you can overlay private property boundaries and owners with an Elite membership. onX is committed to keeping the existing Mountain Project free! We will be adding new integrations that may require a subscription but our goal is to build in ways that enhance the free, core experience.

We are working to make the Mountain Project and onX Backcountry experience more seamless. You can connect your onX account and get access to new features enabled by leveraging onX technologies.

Suggestion for small bug fix: I believe points (for contributions) no longer correlate to a rank anymore. I think it has been this way for a long time. I think my rank has been the same since 2022 or so.

when are you opening up the route database api?

If I have to log into onX to view my MP notifications, is that really "...keeping the existing Mountain Project free"?
