Maybe try contacting Black Diamond if you are concerned. It looks like the manufacturing process drills a hole thru the nut, then secures it with a weld or braze and finaly grinds it flat. This picture from Outdoor Gear Lab looks similar with some voids. |

Jay Goodwinwrote: I agree with Jay. I have multiple sets and all are sans voids. While there is material that is different in color from the wire and metal there are no vids. Voids result in a loss in contact thus less shear strength between the wire and metal. |
