What’s dry/warm in AF Canyon?

Anyone been up American Fork recently? Are there any walls that get sun this time of year? I’ll be there this Saturday and would love to not freeze. Looking to climb anything from 5.10-5.12. Thanks for the help!

Everything on the left/north side of the road.   South facing that is.    People hit Hard Rock, White Wave, and Escape Buttress (all one area), but there are others.

Perfect, thanks Russ!

Possibly going on Saturday if you want to come along, or just follow along with your partner(s) for the sake of knowing where to park and how to find the crags.   Let me know.

To lightly hijack this thread, what SLC area crags will likely be dry and in season for the first week of april? How has the winter been--snowy, dry, or normal? I'm interested in trad 8-11 and sport 10-12.

Check back about 48 hours ahead of arrival?

in terms of how the winter has been. It's been pretty snow and wet. We're at above average snow pack for the season, and an average season here is a lot of snow. It's possible it will be dry in April, but also possible that we'll have a storm drop several feet of snow.

Sorry! But hi-jacking...

In Joe's currently and wet sandstone is a no no. So I'm quite curious, anyone know if the storm rolling thru UT hit AF super bad? And has been snowed in? Or still in?

South-facing slopes are free of snow. Seeping is the concern but that’s too sporadic to give accurate conditions on.

Is the road to AF open? I see the alpine scenic byway is closed in the winter. Interested in getting out this weekend, weather and roads permitting

The snow gate is above the turn off to Tibble Fork, so the lower section of the road where all the climbing is located will be open.

Went out there 3/16, beautiful day! Hard Rock, White Wave, and Escape Buttress were all snow free, alittle bit of seepage on Naked Nebula but all in all, no big deal. Enjoy!

Alright, it's now the week of my trip! There was some precip that should be clearing out tomorrow (don't worry, I'm skiing). What might be good Tuesday through Thursday before the next storm rolls in?

Hey coming in tomorrow any recommendations for af? Is the canyon dry?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
