Have a chance to move to LA. How's the climbing?

Paradise. Ten hours of driving to go 200 miles for climbing. |

Andy Aroz the multi millionaire industry guy, who works from home, and partner does not work, loves sowing misdirection . Most people can’t choose to work walking distance to work as either the close wages or available dwellings there are shit. And unlike Andy rice, multi worker households are all working in different areas. So they can’t drive together. Most can’t work from home. He knows California is at 300 percent capacity and LA at 400 percent. Most not wealthy angelenos live in squalor. Commutes are two hours each way. I lived and commuted in LA for decades. It’s a toilet. If I could move out of state I would. Even riverside and San Bernardino county roads move at a crawl. I’m not recommending anyone move to San Diego. Take people with you. Especially if you’re not a native Californian. |

Diego Climberwrote: We get it. You are bitter because you can't make a living and figure out how to deal with LA traffic. There are plenty of us who can. "When there is a will, there is a way". You have made your point twenty times in this thread. Move along and let the people searching for information access it without having to deal with your constant negative b.s. |

Gary Thomaswrote: He’s negative but also correct. The LA lovers are gentrifiers. It’s not a livable city for normal people. |

Tradibanwrote: Traffic is getting worse all over the globe, not just LA. Cost of living is also going up, universally. Climbing plastic is good here, takes me 2 hours to get to Joshua Tree from this area. 3-4 hours to get to Yosemite or Bishop. From Seattle to Cascades takes time too. |

Li Huwrote: Everything is going up but not like in LA. LA just isn’t pretty enough to justify the added expense. |

Tradibanwrote: Right, LA isn’t really known for beautiful landscapes. Food and housing seems to be roughly the same as all the other cities I stay? |

Li Huwrote: Anecdotal. |

Li Huwrote: Uh, no. |

Diego Climberwrote: Just curious. The map shows GREEN everywhere but a few SOUTHBOUND freeways on a Friday afternoon. Where were you going to climb that you were on a southbound freeway in LA on a Friday afternoon? And don't you live in SD? |

Tradibanwrote: I know your reasons for leaving LA and think you made a good choice. But there are MILLIONS of people who live in LA and seem to be overall enjoying their lives. You can find lots of neighborhood pride and joy and deep community of all kinds in this city. And, yeah, much of it is very expensive which is driven, in a large part, because the economy supports a lot of careers and jobs that pay well. Lots of people from their 20s on up with salaries in the top 5% of US wage earners fighting over a limited housing supply. And foreign money loves to park in LA real estate as a hedge against their own country of origin instability. Which drives up places like Beverly Hills and Malibu. |

By the way, depending on your politics, you may want to consider where you live. If you don't identify with extreme left liberalism, L.A. county (and most of CA for that matter) is definitely not for you. |

Jeff Jwrote: Not sure this “issue” is isolated to LA? Most large cities are pretty much less conservative than the countryside. |

Jeff Jwrote: There’s a pretty strong conservative undercurrent in CA, LA just seems extreme left because of Hollywood and its outsize influence. At least we’re not so stupid to think an embryo is a full blown child! |

Tradibanwrote: 90% of the people are “moderates” such as ourselves. |

Tradi is everything but moderate!!! |

Jeff Jwrote: You know "extreme left" in politics = communism, marxism, anarchism...? And that "liberalism" means rule of law, free market economics, individual rights, etc? |

Andrew Ricewrote: Andrew … I don’t know about that statement. When I listen to the members of the LA city government- the Mayor, Karen Bass and folks like Nithya Raman and others on the City council, many who are openly DSA. I think I’m listening to the communist party’s annual meeting. |

Guy Keeseewrote: Don't ask me to defend the LA City Council. I've worked all over the world and that body is one of the most corrupt deliberative bodies I've ever seen (regardless of ideology). Former councilmember Jose Huizar was just the tip of a large iceberg. But my issue with the post was its definition of "extreme left." That's just Fox News talking. |
