I think Alex is asking if there is an overhead hazard at dry areas like highway wall. Not that he is trying to climb ice at 50F.

Current conditions above your head on the apron and it’s shedding ice. I’d stay out from under stairway proper until we get more cold. You could get to highway wall or fitness den from bridal veil reasonably

Hey Sean, there’s a lot that I don’t know about the Provo climbing. Could you explain to me how you’d get to Highway wall from Bridalveil without crossing under the overhead hazard on Stairway?

Ice up Mirror Lake Highway is in big time. Four miles give or take from where the road closes.

Oh I meant you can get to fitness den from bridalveil but not highway. Highway you have to go up the stairway approach but it’s not too much time in the firing zone before you cut right

Ok, yeah. That's what I thought but your post made me wonder if there was some traverse I didn't know about.

"Seriously, its this like a normal ice year in Utah? This is my second year, and I only have last year to compare.

"Also went bouldering on Saturday in the small snowstorm, ran into some coyotes but should be good conditions to boulder."

It's pretty much over. Highly doubtful anything will come in that hasn't been in for most of the winter. Never say never, but the key to happiness is low expectations.

Not really ice, but I saw someone ski Medusa's face a couple of weeks ago. Do you think it is still skiable?

John Sigmon · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Nov 2019 · Points: 83

It’s usually skiable for a day or two in the right conditions post storm. Pretty sure i saw it since the last storm and a large chunk of the face had slid all the way down to the rock

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
