Red Rock Weather Question

I’ve two days left in my sport climbing trip and a couple routes I really want to do: Running Man (11c) and Flame Ranger (12a), both located above and between the second and third pullouts. Tomorrow the forecast is for NNW wind up to 25mph and sunny with highs in the low 50s. As far as I can tell, the Stratocaster and Running Man areas face roughly SSW. But the terrace they are on is quite big and exposed, so I’m wondering if there will actually be much shelter from the wind on these routes? Anyone with windy weather beta? Will 20mph winds be really unpleasant up there?

Please go to the page for those climbs and read where it says "Access Issue: Red Rock RAIN AND WET ROCK ".

Those routes will be too wet to climb tomorrow and quite possibly the next day depending on how long the mountains hold on to the clouds tomorrow. Consider wrapping up your vacay on some limestone routes so that others can enjoy those routes in the future with the the current holds still intact.

This is the wrong question to be asking after today’s weather. You want to climb limestone tomorrow.

To put things in perspective, I don’t even trust this sandstone when it’s dry!

Thanks for the speedy replies. We’re aware of the wet rock issue and don’t want to endanger ourselves or the routes. We were assuming (perhaps wrongly) that with the small amount of rain (less than 0.1in) and the promise of wind and sun tomorrow, the routes would be climbable by midday. The rule of thumb we’d heard was to test the soil one inch down for wetness.

Anyway, since we may have underestimated the impact of the weather, we’re probably going to save these routes for Friday and hope that things dry out well enough by then.
