It's a small divot in the roadside on the way down into Price on highway 6. Usually good for a drive by...not really a destination climb. |
I don't know; I haven't done a bunch of ice, but I liked it a lot, and the reports of there being dirt on it weren't true when I was there |
It’s all about perspective. For early season the Dirtcicle can be a lot of fun. When it’s the only game going it can be a great destination. Dallen |

Just talked to the ranger at the Spanish Fork headquarters and was told that Santaquin is closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic indefinitely during road construction. She sent me this map highlighting the closure. |
For how long is it going to be closed |

https://www.mountainproject.com/route/106088267/the-pricecicle it right after mile marker 223 look on the right side(if coming from saltlake) there will be a huge pullout right after it. park there then walk up to it. its like 50 feet from the road and can be seen from the road |

Alex, If you scroll up, you’ll find info that I already shared about Santaquin Canyon being closed. There’s no estimated opening date, as me and the other poster have said. |
Has anyone that has talked to the Rangers for Santaquin asked about winter access- it seems like they won’t be doing any construction in the canyon in the winter.?. |
Dallen, that’s exactly and only what i asked them about. I encourage everyone to call the Spanish Fork rangers office and politely express their disappointment. The SF office is 801-798-3571 Maybe someone with more knowledge of the forest service bureaucracy could chime in here, but perhaps the Uintah- Wasatch NF supervisors office may have some sway? Their number is 801-999-2103 Remember to be respectful when you call. They are likely understaffed and underpaid. |
I’ll give them a call- and be polite. |

This is the official closure order for Santaquin Canyon Road: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd627939.pdf |

Hogum goes at 2+ thin, snow, then 4- thin. Wouldn’t recommend for the wi3 leader. Crux was fun but thin for the climb. Plenty of ice for a V thread up top but most of the finish was a bit rotten. Fresh sling and rap ring for last rap climbers right above first pitch. |

Any info on GWI? Will be in SLC end of Dec and was hoping to take the GF up. |

Nicholas Spiropuloswrote: looked pretty heinous yesterday. if it magically gets cold for several days it would shape up fine. its high flow so takes a lot more cold than what we are getting |

Anybody know how the apron/bridalveil area is looking? I’m trying to find options other than the dirtcicle that’s relatively close to SLC |
This was BVF on 12/10 after a brief few days of proper cold temps. White nightmare resembled its' name. Apron was shedding and kind of sketchy to sit under. It’s only been warmer since then. May as well drive down to check it out on your way to Price and if you feel like dry tooling last resort like we did, it’s a good workout. |
I’m in Guatemala right now it seems like it’s easier to climb here then at home |

Nicholas Spiropuloswrote: Thin, wet and degraded. The top is not in condition. Overall ice conditions are very poor along the Wasatch. |
