Ice climbing multi-pitch pack

Hello everyone! I am on the hunt for a small multi-pitch pack for ice climbing. For rock, I have the Mammut Lithium 15, which I love. But it doesn't fit my belay puffy. So I need something a tad bigger (18-20 L) but doesn't sit low on my back as I don't want it to interfere/weigh down on my harness. I haven't tried the Mammut Lithium 20 but from the photos it looks like it sits too low on the back. Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers! |

The arcteryx alpha fl 30 has been my ice climbing pack for a few years. It may be a bit bigger than you want but it’s minimalist design makes it really user friendly while on a climb. |

I use the Cilogear leaders pack. It fits a puffy, a water bottle and one pair of gloves for me. It sits high. |

I used the BD Bullet for years before it became common practice (in the Canadian Rockies, and route dependent obvs) to carry avy gear. I’ve started using a ~22 litre Simond pack that can fit my shovel blade, but still sits high enough that it doesn’t get in the way of my harness. |

The best pack is no pack. Try stuffing your belay parka in a compression bag, clipping a sling to the ends, and carrying it over your shoulder. |

I’m a really big fan of salwea’s silnylon 15 and 22L ultralight packs - stupid light and simple- gloves, belay jacket a few snacks and some water. Unobtrusive. Not great if you’re going to be grovelling up some chimney but just don’t do that and you’ll find they last for years. The 22L is a little bigger than I need so I use the 15 now. |
