Does anyone know if Derry High Rocks in Derry, PA, is still accessible, at least on the down low? |

I drove past the entrance a week or so ago and saw one car parked there. I'm from the areas. So I might go back soon and see if there are any chalk marks or climbers on a good day. I learned to climb there as kid and would love to go back. |

I grew up in Derry and would hike there often to climb. I proposed to my wife there. I'm now 4 hours away and would love to take my daughters climbing there. Anyone know if that's still possible |

I just hiked up to the highrocks in Derry,Pa. The Pennsylvania game commission posted the whole cliff area and it says only authorized personnel. Iwalked my beagle up and back. It is still beautiful as it was when I was a kid. Why? The game commission posted it I don’t know. I am going to call them and find out. Will update later. |

Apparently a former Game Commission employee bought tons of acreage on that ridge, posted everything, then started logging it - I know because he started behind my parent's house. I'm unsure whether he actually owns the High Rocks are or not. I'd love to climb there again, though. |

If someone wants to post or DM me the location it's actually quite easy to check where the land ownership lines lie, it just takes a little digging. Unfamiliar with the area and cant quite seem to locate the cliff. |

Pa game lands are all about hunting. They have closed a lot of their lands to climbing. |

Any information or website for the McGee Run Wood Partnership? If it is not administered by the Game Commission I'd be curious to know if there are any access issues relating to visiting/recreation on the property. |

As I understand, there is a partnership of landowners in that area that agree to allow public hunting on their land in cooperation with the state game commission, with access to certain areas prohibited, including the high rocks, and a cave preserve on the other side of hill. |

Doug Swrote: Correct. Many timber companies throughout PA permit hunting with permitting controlled through the PA Game Commission. |

Would anyone be able to find out the landowner for these coordinates? (39.97799, -79.57217 ) Similar situation with the Game Lands closure, but based on a Google maps search the boulders are outside of the Game Lands property boundary. Curious if there is a similar "right of way" for the Game Lands to administer this area as well or if it is in fact open to climbing. |
