MYOG Hard Goods

Hello everyone, I’m a beginning aider(love it) and a novice blacksmith. I’m super stoked to make some of my own gear. I’ve already made heads and funkess with wires and swages. But I’m looking to expand into blacksmithing too. Pitons aren’t too hard but I also want to make hooks, hammers, etc. Just wondering if anyone has experience on this or if you’ve tried at all. Thanks! |

Technically incompetent person here, so do what I do and look at the experts. Two inspiring items to me are the Dammerrr and the new expando slayer beak. Also check out Kop de Gas gear. I can’t tell if their stuff is hokey or genius since it’s hard to find, but that hybrid beak-hook seems kinda cool. |

An excellent primer on the subject is “The Making of Tools” by Alexander G. Weygers ISBN 0442293615 |

Missed this when it was posted. My hammers aren't really black smithed but are definitely handmade and homegrown. I'd be happy to share whatever knowledge I have and even guide you though the steps to make hammers like mine. |
